How a debate works
- Match & motion — pick your topic (or roll a random one) and choose FOR or AGAINST. You're paired with an opponent who wants the other side. Queue ranked (signed in, rating at stake) or casual.
- Live video debate, 5 minutes — you go face to face on camera, and anyone can drop in to watch and hear you live. No turns: speak, interrupt, fire back. Typing works too, as a fallback. Your mic audio is recorded during the debate and transcribed by AI the moment it ends — that transcript is the official record. Need more time? Extensions add +5 min each when both sides agree, up to 20 minutes total.
- Fact-check — factual claims in your arguments are detected and checked against Wikipedia and news sources; the results feed into the verdict.
- The verdict — the audience result shows instantly; the AI judge then scores the transcript on argument quality, evidence & accuracy, rebuttal engagement, clarity and conduct out of 100 (it takes a few moments while your audio is transcribed). Resting your case concedes. In a rematch the judge also sees a short summary of your previous match, so developing your arguments pays off.

Single-elimination cups. Sign in, join an open cup, and when it fills the bracket is seeded by rating. Win your match to advance — the judge's verdict decides, and draws advance the higher seed.
How tournaments work
Random Cup
- Auto-opens weekly; 8 players.
- Every match gets a random motion and random sides.
- Matches are ranked (ELO) — the judge's verdict advances you.
- A draw advances the higher seed.
- Both players click "▶ I'm ready" to start a match.
- The champion earns the achievement.
🔥 Themed Cup
- Started by admins on one motion (often a trending topic).
- You pick FOR or AGAINST when you join — slots are balanced (half each).
- It's a league, not a knockout: every debate pairs FOR vs AGAINST and you always defend your chosen side across several matches.
- Scoring: 3 points a win, 1 a draw, 0 a loss.
- Separate FOR and AGAINST standings — one bad matchup never eliminates you.
- When every league match is done, the top FOR and top AGAINST debater meet in the Grand Final. Champion gets .
