Judge’s verdict

It's a draw
Adjudicated by the AI judge
Judge’s reasoning

The adjudicator reached opposite conclusions when the sides were presented in swapped order — a genuinely close, evenly-matched debate, so it is scored a draw. Con successfully countered Pro's historical precedents by highlighting the unprecedented speed and cognitive breadth of AI compared to past technologies like ATMs. Con also exposed the fatal flaw in Pro's maintenance argument—that the ratio of creators/checkers to displaced workers is heavily skewed downward. While Pro conceded key structural unemployment concerns, Con maintained better clash and ground throughout the debate.

ok so i'm going FOR. every big tech thing people said would kill jobs. computers, internet, all of it. and we ended up with way more jobs not less
faizan_22
yeah but those took like 20-30 years to roll out. ai is replacing people in 2 years. nobody gets time to adjust
Arjun Malhotra
is it really replacing people tho or is everyone just panicking
faizan_22
my cousin works at a call center in pune. his team went from 40 to like 15 after they put in some ai chatbot. thats not panic thats real
faizan_22
and those 25 guys didnt suddenly become ai engineers lol
Arjun Malhotra
ok thats rough not gonna lie
Arjun Malhotra
but when atms came out everyone said bank tellers are done. the number of tellers actually went up for years after because banks opened more branches
? UNVERIFIED
“The number of bank tellers went up for years after ATMs came out because banks opened more branches.”
None of the sources provided address the claim about the number of bank tellers increasing after ATMs came out due to banks opening more branches.

atm could only give out cash. ai can write, code, design, do customer support. its not one task its like half of office work
Arjun Malhotra
and someone has to build it, check it, fix it when it messes up. which it does a LOT. i use chatgpt for college and half the time it just makes stuff up 😂
faizan_22
lol true. but you need way fewer people to check it than to do the work. 1 guy checking 10 bots
Arjun Malhotra
fewer in that one job sure. but when stuff gets cheaper people buy more and new businesses pop up. thats how it always worked
faizan_22
over a long time yeah. tell that to a 45 year old guy who just lost his job. whos retraining him?
Arjun Malhotra
fair, that part is a real problem. govt and companies should be doing way more there
faizan_22
so you agree some people are just gonna get left behind
Arjun Malhotra
some yeah. but the question is more jobs or less overall. and overall i still think more
